Terms & Conditions
Last updated {UPDATED}.
These terms cover this website and the part we play in arranging your travel. Please read the section about the tour operator carefully — it is the one that decides who is responsible for what.
Who we are, and what we actually do
MyTribe Travels arranges and leads guided travel. Steve and Therese have been doing it since 2008, and every tour has a Group Leader who travels with you.
We are not the tour operator. The tours on this site are operated by a third-party operator — currently Collette — who contracts the flights, hotels, coaches and guides, holds your money, and runs the tour on the ground. We arrange your place on it, we look after our travelers, and we come with you.
The operator’s terms govern your booking
When you book, you enter into a contract with the tour operator, and their booking conditions apply to it — including deposits, payment schedules, cancellation charges, refunds, changes, and their liability to you. You will be given those conditions before you pay. If anything on this website conflicts with them, their conditions win.
Deposits and payment
A tour is reserved with a deposit and the balance falls due on the final payment date shown on that tour’s page. Those dates are real deadlines set by the operator, not by us. Deposits are held by the operator, and whether any part is refundable is governed by their conditions.
Cancellation and refunds
If you need to cancel, tell us as soon as you can and we will help you do it properly. What you get back is determined by the operator’s cancellation schedule and by whether you bought their cancellation waiver or travel insurance. We cannot waive or reduce their charges.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend it, and on most tours the operator offers a cancellation waiver and insurance package. Trips are paid for months in advance and life interrupts. If you decline cover, you are accepting that risk yourself.
Passports, visas and health
Making sure your documents are in order is your responsibility. Most international travel requires a passport valid for at least six months beyond your return date, and some destinations require visas or specific vaccinations. We will tell you what we know, but the requirements are yours to meet, and being turned away at a border is not refundable.
Fitness to travel
Our tours involve walking, standing, cobblestones, stairs and long travel days. If you have a condition that affects your mobility or your health, tell us before you book so we can be honest with you about whether a particular tour will suit you. We would rather have that conversation early than have you struggle.
Prices and itineraries
Prices on this site are per person and are the operator’s prices at the time of writing. They can change until a booking is confirmed, and they depend on how many people share a room. Itineraries can change too — weather, river levels, roadworks, closures and local conditions all interfere with travel, and an operator may substitute a comparable arrangement. We will tell you when we know.
Things outside anyone’s control
Neither we nor the operator is liable for failures caused by events beyond reasonable control — among them severe weather, natural disaster, war, civil unrest, epidemic, strike, border closure, and government action.
This website
We keep this site accurate and we correct mistakes when we find them, but we cannot warrant that every detail is free of error at every moment. Nothing here is an offer to contract. The text, photographs and design belong to us or are used with permission, and are not for reuse without our agreement.
Our liability
Our responsibility is to arrange your travel with reasonable care and skill, and to lead the tours we say we will lead. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of the tour operator, airlines, hotels or other suppliers, whose own terms apply to their services. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and the courts of San Diego County have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
